Please, just listen to me. Now, we will figure this out. I don't care about the X-Men. I don't care about the Brotherhood. I care about my family.
— Eclipse to Polaris[src]

Eclipse (birth name Marcos Diaz) is a main character on FOX's The Gifted. He is a Mutant with the ability to absorb and manipulate photons.

Eclipse comes from a poor family that exiled him from his home after he used his powers for the very first time. In search of many things, such as family and unity, Eclipse headed to the United States, where he eventually became a leader for the Mutant Underground, along with his closest friend, John, and his girlfriend, Lorna.

Character Description[]

"A natural rebel compelled by circumstances to cooperate with others, Marcos is a passionate and strong-willed fighter who sometimes lets his emotions overrule reason. His alter ego, Eclipse, who possesses the ability to absorb and manipulate photons, is a newly created mutant for this expanded X-Men universe."[1]

Early Life[]

Marcos Diaz was born in Colombia, to a mutant mother and a normal father. As the oldest of his siblings, he was groomed by his father to take over the family business. But; when he was thirteen, his powers manifested for the first time and his father gave him the same choice he had given his mother; hide his powers or leave. Marcos refused to hide his powers and he was kicked out. He then went to live on the streets of Bogota, and eventually wound up doing "things he wasn't proud of" to survive.

Marcos found employment with a cartel, helping to run drugs across the border. He became involved; with his employer's daughter, Carmen Guerra. Sometime during his time; with the cartel, he visited his father while he was dying of cancer. He soon began to be treated as a valued member of the family, but that; changed; when he met Polaris. He fell in love; with her and decided to leave the Cartel and join the Mutant Underground, utilizing all his foreign contacts into smuggling mutants; instead of drugs.

On October 12, 2014, Eclipse was arrested; by the San Antonio Police Department.

Eclipse stuns the officers

In "eXposed", Eclipse, Thunderbird and Polaris track down an escaped fugitive named Blink to an abandoned workshop in Atlanta before the Atlanta Police get to her. He and Polaris introduce themselves as Marcos and Lorna. Initially apprehensive, Blink settles down after they explained that they are mutants as well. Unfortunately, they are forced to take cover within the workshop as Atlanta PD surround the building. After taking cover behind walls, Polaris uses her abilities to disable the cops and halt the firing bullets. With the police applying pressure, Eclipse comes to her rescue, emitting a blinding light from his hands, which stuns the police and provides himself and Polaris with the opportunity to escape as Thunderbird and Blink had already found an exit.

As Eclipse, Polaris, Thunderbird and Blink make their way back to the getaway vehicle, Eclipse is shot from behind which sends Polaris into a fury of blind rage. She attacks the shooting officer with great force, using her abilities to slam him against a dumpster multiple times. While she makes quick work of the solo officer, she is unprepared for the back up that follows. Polaris is tazed, taken to the ground, and arrested, forcing Eclipse, Thunderbird and Blink to leave without her.

John patches Marcos up

While John bandages his gunshot wound, they argue over recusing Lorna. Marcos wants nothing more than to get a team together, but John is not convinced they can take on hundreds of cops when they were nearly subdued by merely a dozen of them at the abandoned workshop. They can't afford to take that risk, not right now. When Sage comes in to alert them of a news story in Atlanta, where two mutant siblings, Andy and Lauren Strucker, committed an act of terrorism at the local high school. With this, Marcos and John realize that their plans of rescuing Lorna will have to wait.

Clarice shows Marcos that her powers are limited

The next day, Marcos tries to find a way to rescue Lorna, when Clarice enters the room. She wants to thank him for rescuing her, knowing he lost Lorna in the process. Marcos shrugs it off, however, he is interested in her mutant abilities, he thinks Clarice's ability to create portals could help with rescuing Lorna. All he needs is for her to get him inside the prison, but it is beyond Clarice's abilities as she explains that in order to teleport someone, she would've had to have been in the place before. Marcos doesn't understand, so she illustrates it by using a toy to teleport it through the roof, a place she hasn't seen before. When it comes out of the roof, it is cut in half.

Their conversation is interrupted when Marcos receives a call from Reed Strucker, the Atlanta attorney who is prosecuting Lorna. Reed proposes a deal to Marcos: He explains that he is the prosecutor with the city, involved in building a case against Marcos and his mutant associates for the district's attorney office, so if he helps his family across the border, he would be able to sort out Lorna's release. Reed also reveals that Lorna is pregnant, deeply shocking Marcos.

TG-Caps-1x01-eXposed-106-Eclipse-Reed

Eclipse meets with Reed

As planned, Marcos meets up with Reed at a local bar for mutants called Tex's Lounge. When Reed arrives at the bar, Marcos asks about Lorna and their baby. When he asks Reed which detention center is being kept at, Reed isn't inclined to tell him, but after he uses his power to scare him, Reed reveals that she's in the Garland detention center, but knows very little of the baby's condition, having only seen the medical exam. With that, Reed offers to help Lorna in exchange for assisting his family. Marcos agrees because Lorna’s big secret is that she is pregnant, but he says that Reed will have to stay behind to make sure the other man holds up his end of their bargain. He gives Reed an address, where he and his family are supposed to meet him to plan their escape to Mexico.

Later that night, Eclipse meets with the Struckers in an abandoned warehouse facility. From there, Eclipse will get them food, water, and blankets before heading down to the border, though Caitlin refuses to go any further until she knows all of what he has planned for her family. Eclipse explains that he knows people down by the border with a specific set of skills, that'll allow them to get people under, over, or even through the wall. Once that is done, they'll get them new IDs. There are also churches of people who will help them. Unfortunately, their plans never initiate as doesn't take long before they are surrounded by Sentinel Services, and ordered to the ground.

TG-Caps-1x01-eXposed-119-Eclipse-solar-light-photons

Eclipse uses his powers to stop the sentinels

Fortunately for them, Blink and Thunderbird have successfully tracked them all down, Eclipse and the Struckers take their cue from Thunderbird to run. The seven of them sprint through the warehouse, as Sentinel Services unleash their mutant-hunting robots, the Sentinels. When one latches onto Thunderbird, Eclipse fries it, but that only temporarily stops the robot. When they are cornered, Eclipse and Lauren are able to keep them behind using their mutant abilities while Blink creates a portal for them all to retreat through that leads to the Mutant Underground Headquarters. Everyone, except Andy and Reed, goes through the portal. Blink can't hold the portal open for much longer. Just as Reed is about to go through, he gets shot before he gets the chance. Having strained her abilities, Blink collapses, causing the portal to close and for Reed to be left for capture on the other side.

In "rX", Marcos helps tend to an ill-stricken Clarice after closing the portal as she falls in and out consciousness. So Marcos holds up her head up as he tries to get her to respond. She appears to be suffering from some kind of reaction to holding her portal open for such an extensive amount of time and traveling as far as they did. He puts her arm around him and leads her out of the room, but they don't make it far as Clarice is barely able to stand. Marcos then places her on a bench by the stairs.

Marcos explains his "freelance job"

Later, he is confronted by John about his "freelance job", to which he attempts to justify that the Strucker kids are mutants in danger, and that Underground's job is to help mutants in danger. However, John sees through Marcos' explanation, claiming that his interest is only in Lorna. Lauren then calls them down as Clarice's condition worsens. The long-distance leap and holding her portal open for such an extensive amount of time took a lot of energy out of her. Caitlin informs Marcos and John that Clarice is in respiratory distress and her temperature is spiking. Caitlin, who is a nurse, advises them to seek medical attention for Clarice, otherwise Clarice will die. Just then, Clarice begins convulsing causing her powers to become unstable. Her powers start to uncontrollably manifest, causing her to involuntarily open a portal to stretch of road where a truck is headed straight for them. As the truck tries to avoid them, it skids out of control, resulting in the truck being sliced in half. The back half unfortunately makes it through the portal, forcing everyone to take cover.

TG-Caps-1x02-rX-44-Thunderbird-Eclipse-solar-light-photons

John and Marcos look through the portal

After moving Clarice to the table, Marcos asks Caitlin that if Clarice is over-exceeding her powers, how is she able to create portals. Caitlin admits that she isn't an expert in the field. As Clarice starts convulsing again, a new portal emerges to the same road as before. Civilians with loaded rifles stand on the other side of the portal looking in. Seeing this, Marcos prepares for a fight. However, John grabs his wrist and urges him to show restraint as they aren't to hurt innocent bystanders. Lauren walks in front of them and manages to close the portal using her shields, thus preventing any possible altercation. This shuts down Clarice's powers as she falls unconscious. Marcos and Caitlin then set forth a plan to raid the hospital for the medication to treat Clarice while John, Lauren and Andy agree to stay behind and look over Clarice.

Caitlin and Marcos driving out to the hospital

That night, Marcos and Caitlin head out for the hospital. Worried about her kids, Caitlin asks how long the mission will take. Marcos explains that Andy and Lauren aren't alone. They have John. He may be a tracker, but he is also bulletproof so Caitlin has nothing to worry about. Caitlin makes it clear that she expects Marcos to honor his deal with Reed to get their family out of the country. Marcos informs Caitlin that Reed was trying to send his girlfriend, Lorna, to prison up until recently. Caitlin defends Reed's actions, stating that he was only following the law as a prosecutor, but they have nothing against mutants. Marcos wonders if Caitlin or Reed would be standing up for mutants if it hadn't been Lauren and Andy in that gym at their school. Caitlin does not reply as she ponders Marcos' question.

Marcos and Caitlin at the hospital

The next day, Marcos and Caitlin arrive at South Region Hospital. They look inside to the sight of the over-crowded urgent care facility. It's not much like the hospitals Caitlin is used to. And the state is even considering closing down the hospital to mutant patients. He jokes that one of their best powers is bankrupting hospitals as they are born with the ultimate pre-existing condition. Caitlin notes that the ER is secured and the drugs are inside, meaning they need an emergency in order to enter the treatment area. Luckily for them, Marcos has a bullet wound from their previous escape when rescuing Clarice. So Caitlin reopens the wound. Much to her surprise, his blood is like no others she had seen before. He seems to bleed some form of solar light; he's bioluminescent. They enter the hospital, with Marcos holding onto his bullet wound that is dripping. They use this to his advantage as he convinces the front desk receptionist that he desperately needs help.

Marcos welds the door shut

As Dr. Watkin stitches Marcos' wound, he asks what caused this, to which Marcos replies that he was injured while climbing a latter. Skeptical about the story, Dr. Watkin calls Caitlin into the hallway. Caitlin returns soon thereafter with the medication to treat Clarice, and she informs him that she saw Dr. Watkin's talking to the police. Just when Marcos asks if Caitlin is sure that the doctor was talking to the police about them, the two officers come barging through the door. With their guns drawn, they demand that Marcos and Caitlin get down. Instead, they make a run for it. Marcos and Caitlin run through the laundry room and out the backdoor. As they make their escape, Marcos welds the door shut.

TG-Caps-1x02-rX-119-Eclipse

Marcos was kicked out by his family at 13

On their way back from the hospital, Caitlin asks if it is always that bad for mutants. Marcos reveals that what Caitlin saw was actual top quality mutant health care as the doctor at least bothered to stitch him up before calling the police. While there are civil rights acts, Marcos explains that there's always an exception for public safety. All they have to do is call a mutant dangerous and instantly, their rights vanish. When Caitlin asks how Marcos' family dealt with him being a mutant, he reveals that they kicked him out at 13 the first time he lit up. To survive, he had to do a lot of things he isn't proud of, and it was Lorna who saved him from that. She is more so his family than his own parents. Upon returning to HQ, Caitlin begins to panic, but he assures her that it's a security measure by a mutant Underground member to keep unauthorized people away. However, he notes that something is wrong with it being stronger than usual. Speaking to Pedro (the mutant responsible for the fear induction), Marcos learns that the building is being evacuated as Clarice's portals continue to violently open and close everywhere in and around HQ.

Marcos and Caitlin arrive to find Andy and Lauren assisting with evacuation. After a brief family reunion, Marcos stays back with the kids as Caitlin heads inside to tend to Clarice and hopefully stop the destruction of Headquarters.

Lorna and Marcos create a aurora borealis as they kiss

In "Exodus", three years ago, just outside of Headquarters, Lorna tells Marcos that the station was condemned after the Oakwood riots when the National Guard stormed a nearby mutant orphanage that caused one of the young mutants to lose control and destroy the entire area. No one knew what he did exactly, so they stayed away, thus providing the Underground with the perfect hideout. Marcos reveals that he feels as if he's being punished by being a mutant, perhaps a sin from his past life that he's now answering for by being forced to live under constant persecution. Lorna explains that she wouldn't change who she is or what she could do for anything. She then asks Marcos what was the first recreational thing he did with his powers. Marcos explains that he was on the streets of Bogotá, sleeping in a cardboard box. He didn't have much time for fun. So, when he refuses to answer Lorna's question, she reveals to him the reason behind why she wears steel-toe boots and metal bracelets. When she was 16, her abilities manifested and she discovered that she could use her control over magnetism to levitate herself while wearing metal. Marcos concedes and answers Lorna question by grabbing shards of broken glass off the ground and shinning light through it to project a pattern. As their hands touch, they create a small aurora borealis, which grows as the two proceed to kiss.

John agrees with Sonya and Marcos to rescue Lorna

Present day, Marcos is dead set on breaking into jail and rescuing Lorna, but John doesn't think now it the time. Also in the room is Caitlin, Sonya, Sage and Shatter. John reminds Marcos that the prison he wants to break into is armed with 20 foot walls and guards, ready to shoot-to-kill. However, Marcos counters that Clarice can get them past security. Unfortunately for Marcos, John and Caitlin are in agreement that Clarice's powers are too unstable. Which is why Marcos suggests that John train her as he did for some of the other mutants in the Underground. When Sonya reminds John that Clarice freed herself from jail, he reluctantly agrees though Caitlin isn't backing down. She reminds them all that they still have laws to abide by. She recommends calling a lawyer as some members of congress are sympathetic to mutants and she has connections, but John claims that she may be overestimating their sympathy. They can't risk the exposure of the Underground with Sentinel Services on the look-out. Much better odds, they will get turned on, which is a risk that Marcos and John refuse to take.

TG-Caps-1x03-eXodus-42-Eclipse-Thunderbird

Marcos and John plan to go after the Struckers

The next day, Marcos learns from John that the Struckers left the station the night before without taking much with them. Caitlin believes that she can help, that whatever connection she has can make a difference in getting Reed back. She spent her whole life in believing in the system. Some people have to learn the hard way, John concludes as Marcos tells him that he had already spoken to Caitlin about the way the prejudice mutants face. Nevertheless, they have to go after them, which is unfortunate given that Lorna could disappear into a federal hellhole at any moment. However, should the Struckers get arrested, they could lead the authorities right back to the Underground, compromising their entire operation.

Eclipse, Thunderbird, Andy, Lauren and Caitlin escape

Eclipse and Thunderbird track Caitlin and the kids to her brother's house in Buckhead the following day. They find Caitlin sleeping on the couch. Eclipse and Thunderbird tell her that she and the kids are in danger and that they need to leave immediately. Moments later, her brother, Danny, enters the room. Thunderbird's suspicions prove to be of legitimate cause as a crew of men armed with guns pull up outside the house. Andy questions why they should run when they have the advantage. Thunderbird explains that if that happens, people will die which Andy doesn't seem to have any quarrels with. Danny then goes outside to talk to them, hoping to calm the mob. Upon Danny being struck down, Andy completely obliterates the door and sends Chuck and the mob flying back. Chuck Sanders stands back to his feet, retrieves his gun and aims it at Andy. Fortunately, Thunderbird gets Andy out of the line of fire while Eclipse projects powerful rays of light from his hands to deter the mob. Eclipse, Thunderbird, Andy, Lauren and Caitlin then get into the truck and leave.

TG-Caps-1x03-eXodus-105-Eclipse-Thunderbird

Eclipse and Thunderbird call Dreamer

On their way back to Headquarters, they call Dreamer from the SUV while being shot at by the "local mutant welcoming group". They tell Dreamer that they can't afford a fight and that they need a way out that doesn't end with death. She tells them to get back to the Underground and by then, she will have devised a plan. As promised, Dreamer has come up with a plan. Thunderbird drives down the street, rounding the corner to the sight of Blink, standing in the middle of the road, holding open a portal large enough for the entire truck to fit through. They pass through the portal, finding themselves just outside the entrance of the Underground. Thunderbird exits the SUV, telling Eclipse to get everyone inside while he talks to Blink and Dreamer. Caitlin admits that he was right and she apologizes for taking off. Eclipse accepts her apology. She did something stupid for someone she loves. He can't say that he hasn't done the same.

The next day, Eclipse and Thunderbird drive back out with Caitlin, so that she can speak with her brother. From Danny, they learn that Reed is alive and that Sentinel Services is taking him to a top secret mutant detention center with Lorna.

TG-Caps-1x04-eXit-strategy-05-Eclipse

Eclipse infiltrates the relocation center

In "eXit strategy", the Underground infiltrates a mutant relocation center somewhere in Georgia. Eclipse, Sage, and two other members, Randall and Elsa move forward towards the second fence while Thunderbird and Pulse stay behind to wait for their signal. Unfortunately, the plan goes awry as gunshots ring out in the night. Eclipse and Sage make it back to them alive and well, however, Randall and Elsa, weren't as fortunate. The facility's defense system of automated guns and infrared trackers are far more advanced than they had expected. With his ability to disrupt systematical electronics, Pulse volunteers to shut down their system to the automated weapons in order to buy the rest of them some time to escape. However, after successfully doing so, he s shot down and supposedly killed.

Marcos and John ask the Underground for help in saving Lorna and Reed

Present day, Marcos and John call a meeting at Headquarters to discuss breaking Lorna out of prison. They know that she is being held in a cell at the Sentinel Services Regional Headquarters with Reed. They are being moved soon to an ultra secure facility. The people who are taken there don't come back, thus forcing their hand in attacking Sentinel Services head on. Many members are reluctant in volunteering to help save Lorna, Sage included. She reminds Marcos and John that they lost six people the last time they went up against the Sentinel Services directly, which was merely a relocation center with a fence and a few guard towers. This time around it is a prison they are attempting to infiltrate, whose systems have improved. Extrapolating from other attacks, the Underground has an 86.5% chance of failure, Sage determines. But as Marcos explains, if they do nothing, then there's a 100% chance of never seeing Reed or Lorna again. After Marcos reminds them how Lorna has risked her life for everyone in the room, they asks for a show of hands from those willing to save Lorna. Unfortunately, Sonya, Clarice, and Harry are the only ones willing to help.

TG-Caps-1x04-eXit-strategy-21-Dreamer-Thunderbird-Eclipse

Sonya, John, and Marcos strategizing

In the monitoring cell, Marcos is reasonably upset with the fact that only five people (John, Sonya, Marcos, Clarice, and Harry) are willing to help save Lorna. John on the other hand is a bit more understanding given that a lot of them lost friends the last time they attacked Sentinel Services. Caitlin corrects Marcos, saying that it is six them of them against the Sentinel Services as she will be joining them. The six of them began to strategize on how best to infiltrate the building. Clarice's portals and Harry's cloaking abilities will do them little good. However, Caitlin suggests that rather than going into the building, they rescue Lorna and Reed while they're in route to be relocated. While in theory, the idea is plausible, they don't know the transit route. However, Marcos suggests using his connection to the Cartel to gain access on the route. John advises him against it but they are out of better ideas.

TG-Caps-1x04-eXit-strategy-30-Eclipse-Carmen

Marcos asks Carmen for a favor

That night, in hopes of gathering intel on Sentinel Services' transport route, Marcos heads down to a local club owned by the Cartel. He is taken to the boss' daughter Carmen Guerra. He assumes there are still hard feelings considering the last time he saw Carmen, he was sneaking out of bed, never to be seen again. Much to Marcos' surprise, Carmen is pleased to see him and would rather leave their past in the past. Carmen then informs Marcos that her father has retired and that she is the new boss. He notices that Carmen has made drastic changes to the club since his last visit. This provides her with an operation that she can run $3 million through and deposit it in an American bank. Marcos cuts straight to the point. Sentinel Services is relocating Lorna and Reed, and he needs to know where and when. However, Carmen isn't so quick to offer the information. She recalls when Marcos came to the club with her father to help with business in Atlanta. They lost a lot of shipment when Marcos left. Furthermore, he father loved him like a son. He though that Marcos would marry Carmen and take care of the family. Marcos apologizes for his past actions, but he needed the bus route. Carmen agrees to get him the needed information so long as he agrees to be her "friend" again.

TG-Caps-1x04-eXit-strategy-37-Eclipse-Carmen

Carmen wants Marcos' hands

Marcos calls John to inform him of his dealings with the Cartel. John isn't thrilled, but the Cartel made some calls to some contacts they have in Sentinel Services, and they learned that they're moving Lorna and Reed by truck. It's a convoy. Marcos will send John the route when he gets the time frame from Carmen. Carmen then snatches Marcos' phone away. She tells him that they were good together. But Marcos tells her that they cared about different things. Carmen cared about her family, a family that he was apart of. The family was fine. Marcos explains. It was the business, and the things he was required to carry out that chased him away. Carmen compares his smuggling mutants across the boarder to the family's smuggling drugs across the boarding, asking which is more illegal. Marcos needs a time for the convoy. So he asks what Carmen wants from him. She wants his hands, more specifically, the use of his abilities.

TG-Caps-1x04-eXit-strategy-53-Eclipse-solar-light-photons

Eclipse threatens to burn a man's eyes out

Carmen takes Marcos to an abandoned warehouse for his help with a project of hers. They enter a room to find a man bloody, beaten and tied to a chair. While Marcos may think he's above it all, Carmen knows that they're not so different, referring to him as "Eclipse". The man tied to a chair supposedly stole two kilos from the family's distro centers. Carmen needs him to reveal where they are. Which is why she brought in Eclipse as he could be very persuasive. Eclipse insists that he has changed, but the only way she'll give him what he wants to save Lorna is if he does as he's told. Carmen reveals that the price for her help is him. For now on, she calls and he comes and he does exactly what she asks of him. With no other option, Eclipse concedes. He tries to reason with the man, but when that fails, he threatens to burn the man's eyes out. As he applies a bit of heat, the man confesses that he hid the kilos of drugs in his cousin's garage.

Marcos returns to Headquarters to inform John that the prison convoy leaves at 10:00 AM tomorrow. They sweep the route at 9:30 AM, providing the Underground with half an hour to set up. John asks how it went with Carmen. Marcos claims that everything went fine though this is far from being true. Marcos then returns to his room and sends out a prayer.

TG-Caps-1x04-eXit-strategy-67-Dreamer-Trader-Eclipse

Dreamer, Trader, and Eclipse

The day of the convoy has arrived. Eclipse, Dreamer and Trader convene in an alleyway where Eclipse warns Dreamer and Trader to leave if the plan goes sideways. He recalls Sage telling him that it was a suicide mission, and she was right. He never should put them in this predicament. As for Eclipse, he isn't leaving without Lorna. Later, as the convoy arrive, Andy and Lauren fulfill their end by stopping the transport bus. Eclipse, Dreamer and Trader watch from the alleyway as Sentinel Services move into a defensive position to sweep the area. Concerned for their safety and that their getaway vehicles will be found, Eclipse tells Dreamer and Trader to leave. However, they refuse. Instead, Trader volunteers to see what is happening at the bus. Dreamer wonders if he can fool that many people as there are a lot of agents on sight. He tells her that he used to sneak into mutant detention camps. If they didn't see him then, they won't see him now.

TG-Caps-1x04-eXit-strategy-86-Eclipse

Eclipse in a shoot out with Sentinel Services

As Trader makes his way to the bus, his powers fail him and he is spotted by an agent who demands that he get on the ground. When he fails to comply, he is shot multiple times. Eclipse and Dreamer are forced to watch helplessly as he falls to the ground. When Eclipse tries to light up, his powers seem to fail him as well. As Trader lays bleeding on the ground, Sentinel Services prepare to approach, but not before Eclipse runs out from behind the alleyway shooting at them to draw their fire while Dreamer recovers Trader. She applies pressure to his wounds hoping to slow the bleeding. Eclipse continues to draw the agents' gunfire. When he runs out of ammo, he tries once more to light up, but to no avail.

Polaris and Eclipse reunite

When he regains control over his powers, Eclipse fires back at the attacking Sentinel Services agents. He projects beams of energy at them and blows up an agent's car. Eclipse and Thunderbird then regroup. Thunderbird tells him that they need to leave immediately. But Eclipse refuses to leave without Polaris despite the fact that reinforcement is in-route. As Polaris shatters all the windows from the inside of the bus, Eclipse and Thunderbird round the corner to get a better look at the scene. They watch as Polaris escapes through the back of the bus with Reed. Sentinel Services waste no time opening fire. However, Polaris ferrokinetically halts the bullets in midair and sends them flying back at the agents before stripping them of their firearms completely, forcing the agents to fallback. Eclipse reunites with Polaris while Reed reunites with Caitlin as she pulls up in a Sentinel Services car and tells them all to get in as they make their escape.

Eclipse and Polaris learn that Pulse is alive

In "boXed in", Eclipse, Polaris, Thunderbird, Caitlin and Reed pull into their rendezvous point; an abandoned lot. Reed thanks Eclipse for saving him despite having no obligation to, but Eclipse is more concerned with getting out of the open. While Caitlin and Reed embrace after being apart, Polaris, Eclipse and Thunderbird retrieve the untraceable getaway cars they had left nearby. Thunderbird stops to explain that Pulse was responsible for them losing their powers at the warehouse district. Eclipse and Polaris are in disbelief as they were all under the impression that he died two years ago at the relocation facility. Furthermore, he hated Sentinel Services. He protected all his people from them in Macon, which as Thunderbird informs them, is a station that had been recently raided. Thunderbird then hears an incoming Sentinel Services drone. Eclipse and Polaris volunteer to draw it away while Thunderbird, Caitlin and Reed head back to Headquarters.

Eclipse and Polaris draw the drone away as planned though they struggle with taking it down. Polaris attempts to reach it on her own but it is out of range. When Eclipse discovers that it's above the car, Polaris pulls off the rear view mirror and levitates it just outside the car. Marcos then shoots his sunbeams at it, which reflects off the mirror and destroys the drone. Eclipse and Polaris then express how much they love one another and share a kiss.

Polaris and Eclipse talk baby names

Eclipse and Polaris seem to be in the clear. Eclipse takes this time to address the fact that Polaris is pregnant. While she had been through a lot, the baby seems okay. She can feel it in a similar fashion to feeling metal or electricity. Eclipse asks if she's happy. Polaris tells him that she thought a lot about bringing a baby like theirs into the world they currently live in. As for Eclipse, he can't wait to be a father. As their hands touch, just like before, they create a small aurora borealis. If it's a girl, Polaris decides on calling her "Aurora" in reference to the aurora borealis they create when they touch. Eclipse suggests "Rory" if their child is in fact a boy, but she laughs hysterically and decides against it. Eclipse and Polaris arrive at Sentinel Services'roadblock. While he wants to find another route, Polaris suggests that they he keep going. She takes control of the car and proceeds towards the roadblock in high speed before abruptly stopping and getting out the car. She makes quick work of the two agent backing Agent Turner before disarming him of his gun and kidnapping him.

Eclipse and Polaris kidnap Agent Turner

Eclipse and Polaris take Agent Turner to an abandoned warehouse, where she places him up against a wall and magnetically wraps rebar around his neck, giving Agent Turner a collar of his own. She tightens it to the point where he can just barely breathe. Eclipse begins to worry what will follow with them abducting a Sentinel Services agent. However, Polaris seizes the opportunity to figure out what they did to Pulse. If they've found a way to turn mutants against each other, then the Underground won't stand a chance. Polaris reminds Eclipse that Pulse was John's best friend. If they can turn him, then they can turn anyone. As further reassurance, Polaris informs Eclipse that they were going to try to turn her.

TG-Caps-1x05-boXed-in-72-Eclipse-Polaris

Polaris reminds Eclipse what they're fighting for

Eclipse demands to know why Pulse was working the convoy. Agent Turner reasons that not all mutants are terrorist, but they aren't buying it. When Polaris accuses them of committing genocide, Agent Turner tells them that his action stem from July 15th. But as Eclipse points out, that was the action of a few mutants, not all mutants despite political claims. People died on both sides. But nobody had to die as far as Turner is concerned. He's not going to apologize for trying to stop mutant violent, but Eclipse questions how he can fight violence with more violence. 7/15 started out as a peaceful protest. Little did Eclipse and Polaris know that the peaceful protest killed Turner's daughter. Polaris calls Eclipse over to remind him that they must remain focused. 7/15 changed the world. Thousands dead. Relentless mutant persecution all across the country. They are fighting for every mutant that can be turned into a weapon. Which Eclipse agrees is a fight worth fighting but he doesn't think Agent Turner will provide them with any useful information. So Polaris decides to take the information from him. They call Sonya to inform her that they kidnapped Agent Turner and that they needed her help.

Agent Turner informs them that the kidnapping of a federal agent will only make things worse for them. Their only move is to let him go and hope for the best. Polaris agrees to let him go if he tells them the truth about Pulse and the secret detention facilities. They're only kept secret to protect them from people like Polaris and Eclipse. They keep dangerous mutants off the streets, Agent Turner claims. However, he has no intentions of telling them what was done to Pulse. Although, that's what they have Dreamer for, who arrives with Blink via portal soon thereafter. Unfortunately, just behind them is Sentinel Services and Atlanta PD.

Eclipse asks Blink for a way out

Sentinel Services surround the warehouse where Eclipse, Polaris, Blink and Dreamer are holding Agent Turner hostage. Noticing that they're about to move in, Eclipse asks Blink if she can portal them out when the time comes. She replies "maybe", as it's a bit more taxting tearing holes into space than it is for him to light up. Agent Turner warns Dreamer as she approaches that using her powers on him is an assault against a federal officer. She exhales pink smoke into his face nonetheless. With Sentinel Services moving in, Polaris buys Dreamer more time by launching rebar out the window at the agents, forcing them to momentarily retreat. Unfortunately, Sentinel Service returns with tear gas, and they are now moments away from invading the warehouse. So Dreamer is ripped away from Agent Turner before she can restore his memories, leaving him in a state of pain and confusion.

Back at Headquarters, Sonya drew several well detailed illustrations of what she can recall seeing in Agent Turner's mind. It was hazy, but Turner definitely knew Pulse. There was a building, documents, and a logo. While Reed is just as unfamiliar with the logo as her, John remembers seeing it branded on Pulse's arm. Fortunately, Reed does recognize one of Sonya's drawings. He identifies it as being the Baton Rouge Federal Building. Some people he prosecuted were transferred there, but they disappeared soon thereafter.

Marcos tells John about the Federal building

In "got your siX", at the Headquarters, Marcos enters John's office with new details regarding Pulse. While there is nothing firm, there are rumors of mutants hunting other mutants for Sentinel Services, meaning that Pulse may not be the only one. They are barely staying ahead of humans. If Sentinel Services manages to turn them against each other, the Underground won't last much longer. As for the Baton Rouge Federal Building, Marcos had learned that it is a major mutant justice center for the south east. With Reed working with the judge there in the past, it is possible that he may have information about the program. If they can break in, they might finally have an actual understanding of how Sentinel Services is turning mutants against one another. While this isn't usually how John would operate, he is willing to make an exception.

The Underground gathers to discuss their plan

Marcos, John, Reed, Shatter, Lorna, Sonya, and Sage gather around to discuss their plan of breaking into the federal building. Their mission is no longer just about hiding mutants. They are taking the fight to the enemy, making it a matter of survival. Reed tells them of his knowledge of the building. Some of his cases had been transferred to Baton Rouge. There is a judge James Kresge that works there. He dealt with most of Reed's cases. It was rare and all they ever told Reed was that some of his cases were being prosecuted under a special federal program. Marcos is only concerned with getting past the wall to the files, which he plans on Clarice getting them to. John takes that opportunity to reveal to everyone that Clarice left though he neglects to mention the reason for Clarice's sudden departure, which was Sonya's tampering of her memories. Having eavesdropped on their entire discussion, Andy volunteers to get them through the wall, as he can do it faster than Marcos, who claims he can cut through it.

The next day, John tells Marcos to be careful before they head out for Baton Rouge. He won't be joining them due to the Underground needing his supervision. Marcos insists that they will be alright without him, and then the two of them engage in a brief embrace.

While in the back of the truck, Marcos recommends that Andy and Reed get some sleep on the long ride to Baton Rouge, but they stay up to talk about their relationships. Reed offers to talk about it further, but the truck gets pulled over by highway patrol who wants to take a look in the back of the truck. Marcos tells Andy and Reed to turn off the lights as he might be able to hide them. He absorbs light before he emits it, so as the officer open the backdoor to the truck, Marcos drains all the light out of the room, seemingly encasing him, Reed and Andy in a large shadow, creating a blind spot. the officer shines a flashlight in the back of the truck, but Marcos seems to have created a blind spot of some kind.

Later, they stop in a park to rest for the night. Marcos calls Reed over to talk about tomorrow's route with the driver.

Eclipse and Reed discuss fatherhood

Marcos, Andy and Reed get back on the road. Marcos didn't mean to eavesdrop but he heard Andy and Reed talking about his powers. While it may not have ended well, Marcos encourages Reed to keep at it because it'll be easier for Andy if he has his father to talk to. Marcos wonders if Reed always wanted to be a dad. Reed did. He then asks if Marcos feels the same way. He replies that he doesn't know. He didn't know his father much, even before he kicked him out for being a mutant. Marcos was the oldest. As such, he was supposed to run the family business. Safe to say, he disappointed his father. Reed tells Marcos not to worry so much because if they all turned out like their fathers, then he wouldn't be much of a dad himself. Reed still hasn't figured out parenting, but nothing that his children does can make him love them less. He advises Marcos to start there and do the best he can.

Upon arriving in Baton Rouge, Marcos, Andy and Reed call Lorna to tell her that the courthouse is more well protected than initially though. They have to find a new entry point. Andy thinks he can get them in through the parking garage of the building next door as it shares a wall with the courthouse. Lorna then tells Marcos to be careful before saying that she loves him.

Eclipse gathers the hard drives

Eclipse, Reed and Andy enter the parking garage connected to the courthouse. Most of the building is sealed off, so it'll take authorities longer to get to them. As planned, Andy cracks through the wall and makes a hole large enough for his father and Eclipse to sneak through. Andy tries to run on in after Eclipse but Reed holds him back. Andy argues that he can handle himself but Reed orders him to follow the plan and go back to the truck. When Eclipse tells them that there is no time for their arguing, Andy relents and runs back to the truck. Eclipse and Reed proceed into the building and break into judge James Kresge's office to uncover the files regarding Pulse and mutants like him who are being turned against other mutants. While Reed gathers the files, Eclipse works to get the hard drives. Before leaving, Eclipse scorches the room.

Andy, Eclipse and Reed being tailed by the cops

The next day, Marcos calls John to inform him that they are being trailed by a cop. Reed instructs John to check the traffic agency public notices to see if there is any directives to avoid Buford Highway, which there is, meaning that Marcos, Andy, and Reed are heading into an ambush. With this, Lauren, Andy and Wes devise a plan to save them. Polaris, Lauren and Wes arrive at the nearby stadium to get a skyline view of the roadblock being set up. While on the phone with Eclipse, Polaris instructs him to tell the driver to keep going no matter what, and that they will handle the rest. Polaris then tells Lauren that they're going to use her shields to get the truck through the roadblock. After that, it is up to Wes. As the truck nears the roadblock, Sentinel Services and Atlanta PD open fire. Polaris ferrokinetically halts the bullets being directed at the truck while Lauren forms a row of shields on the road, acting as a ramp, which propels the truck clear over the roadblock. Wes then creates an illusion of the truck going down two separate paths, all while cloaking the real truck that kept driving ahead.

Later that night, as Lorna sleeps, Marcos gets a call from Carmen who comes collecting on their agreement. She calls, he comes. She helped Marcos recuse Lorna, now it's his turn to repay the favor. And if he doesn't, her next call is to Sentinel Services.

Marcos meets with John and Lorna

In "eXtreme measures", three years ago, Marcos agrees to a meeting with John and Lorna at a diner on the outskirts. They had heard a lot about Marcos' abilities and wanted him to join the Mutant Underground. Marcos is both flattered and amused with their offer, however, they don't seem to fully understand his situation, or so he thinks. They are very much aware of his story; how he is helping mutants cross the border. The only difference is that they want him to do it full time with the Underground. Marcos claims that was merely a side deal, where he had room in a couple of trucks, so he helped a couple people across. John questions if he genuinely wants to run trucks for the Guerra Cartel for the rest of his life, when he can be out saving people, making a difference in the world. Marcos explains that it is more complicated than that, mainly because he is dating the boss' daughter. With the X-Men gone and the government weighing down on them, they are the mutants' only chance of survival.

Present day, Marcos and Carmen discuss their arrangement and Marcos' obligation to fulfill his end of their deal. Carmen strongly recommends that Marcos honor their deal as it wasn't easy for her to learn the prison convoy's schedule. She's expecting him to show up to her place tomorrow. While Lorna sleeps, Marcos opens a lock-box containing a Santa Muerte medallion

Marcos volunteers to drive out for supplies

The next day, after talking with the other stations, Marcos, Lorna, Sonya, Sage, and Reed learn from John that Sentinel Services is ramping up surveillance across the board. Unfortunately, they are running out of supplies with the influx of refugees. So, Marcos volunteers to take a drive up to Marietta, where he supposedly heard that they had supplies to offer. John turns his attention to the hard drives from Baton Rouge, which Sage and Reed are working on. They are encrypted, but that likely means that there is something worth hiding on them. If they don't find out how Sentinel Services is turning mutants against each other, all their work will have been for nothing. Lastly, John announces that he will be leaving soon to track down Clarice. Lorna then volunteers to join Marcos on his supply run but he insists that he can handle it.

Marcos and Carmen discuss similarities between the Underground and the Cartel

Marcos arrives at the Guerra Cartel's mansion. He is greeted by Carmen, and takes that time to remind her that he go out for a reason though she remembers. He wanted to fight for fellow mutants. The truth is that their reunion could benefit everyone, humans and mutants alike. Marcos' people and Carmen people have a lot in common such as being under constant persecution by law enforcement and being forced to fight. Carmen has money. Marcos has power. She believes that can help each other in what would be a mutually beneficial relationship. Carmen remarks that she's missed him and then asks that he just hear her proposal out.

Marcos asks to know more about the job from Carmen. She tells him that they've been having trouble with the Russians moving into the area and they want to send a message. The Russians have a shipment going up north tomorrow. Carmen knows where they load their trucks. So she wants Marcos to go in and deal with the shipment. No one has to die. She even offers to pay Marcos so that he can supply the Underground.

Marcos gears up

Later, Marcos and the Guerra Cartel gear up to destroy the Russians' shipment. While strapping on his bullet proof vest, he is reminded of the old days. Carmen recalls that it used to give him a rush and he'd come home and keep her up all night. Marcos claims he was just excited to have a roof over his head. He can tell himself that all he wants, but Carmen knows the truth. She remembers when he was just "Marcos who likes the burn things". Marcos explains that people evolve. They find something to believe in. However, Carmen is convinced that Marcos' change only stems from his love for Polaris or as she calls her "Magnet girl". Back to the Russian lab, it is in Forest Hills. They'll go there, where Lodo will take care of the guards without killing them. Lodo, like Marcos, is a mutant.

Eclipse and Carmen camp outside the Russians' lab in Forest Hills. They're waiting for all the drugs to come out before going in. Carmen recalls Eclipse always being very anxious when it came time to deliver. Then he'd go in to do the job, and they couldn't stop him until everything was burning. As the final shipment of drugs come out, Eclipse and the Cartel move in. They drive straight through the front gate and Lodo freezes the guards in their place. Eclipse proceeds towards the drugs and set everything ablaze. Little does he know that Dreamer and Polaris watch from the shipping containers. Carmen then kisses him on the cheek and the flee the scene. Seeing how pleased he is with his actions, Polaris realizes that he isn't in trouble after all and decides to leave with Dreamer without saying a word.

Marcos returns to Headquarters. Marcos explains that when she was in jail, the only way he could get to her was through going to Carmen for information, but he had to agree to work for her. Marcos did it for her and for their child. He only kept it secret because h didn't know how to tell her. Lorna then throws his Santa Muerte medallion before walking off. That night, Marcos gets a text from Carmen, thanking him for his services though he too seems dissatisfied with his predicament.

Though, Marcos insists that he only went to Carmen to save Lorna, who isn't interested in his excuse. While part of the deal is working for her, Lorna just wishes that he didn't enjoy it so much. She saw the look on Marcos' face when he torched the truck and Carmen kiss him on the cheek when he was done, which he doesn't bother to refute. Given that they're already at war, Marcos doesn't wish to start another one with the Cartel, especially not with a baby on the way. Speaking of the baby, Lorna questions how they're supposed to protect it when their world is failing apart. Marcos replies that they do it together. Lorna counters that they can barely protect themselves.

Marcos prepares to head out with John and Clarice to pick up survivors from a fallen station in Perry. When Marcos informs John that Clarice will be joining them rather than Lorna, John suspects that something is wrong, but Marcos claims that everything is fine. However, a problem between Marcos and Lorna affects everyone since they are both leaders at the station, so John pushes a little harder. When he does, Marcos repeats that Lorna just isn't coming.

Eclipse traps the mutant agent

Upon Eclipse, Blink, Thunderbird's arrival at the Eternal Grace Church, where they had been sent to collect the survivors of the fallen Perry station, the pastor tells them that a dozen refugees fled when their station got hit, plus a few mutant strays that came along the way. They open the shed and instruct the refugees to find seats. Thunderbird is then attacked by one of Sentinel Services' mutant agents/Hounds. With the combined abilities of enhanced strength and speed, she takes out several mutants relatively easily, including Esme, the mutant telepath who alerted Thunderbird of the Hound. Fortunately, with his laser beams, Eclipse manages to keep the woman confined to one space long enough for Blink to open a portal and for Thunderbird to jump through it, thus teleporting himself right above her, who he then tackles to the ground and renders unconscious.

Lorna and Marcos tasked with getting answers on the prisoner

After returning to Headquarters, they lock the woman in a cell. Marcos refers to her as a cross between a spy and a suicide bomber. She had a beacon in her back that she could've activated when she got into the station, which would've compromised everything by leading Sentinel Services directly to them. She had weapons as well, leaving Lorna to conclude that the station in Perry must've been hit by another mutant agent. With Sentinel Services sending out Hounds, Sage suggests that they stop taking in refugees for the time being. However, the Underground has no intentions on turning its back on desperate people just because one of them might be dangerous. As for the prisoner, they need to get what they can out of her, which John leaves Lorna and Marcos in charge of.

Marcos later returns to the cell to find Lorna threatening the prisoner with knives. He demands that she stop, which angers Lorna as she wants answers from the prisoner, but Marcos would rather do it through less violent means.

TG-Caps-1x08-threat-of-eXtinction-73-Eclipse-Polaris

Marcos reasons with Lorna

Lorna wonders why Marcos is so opposed to her methods of interrogation. They're running out of time, but Marcos possess the capability to make the prisoner talk. He explains that it's not that simple though from what Lorna heard about what he used to do with the Cartel, it was just that simple. One of the reasons Marcos came to the Underground was so that he didn't have to do that kind of work anymore. While she may have tried to kill them, Marcos has enough nightmares and knows exactly what lies at the end of that road should they torture the woman for answers. Lorna fears that what was done to the woman will be done to all of them by Sentinel Services eventually should they fail. Marcos looks over to the prisoner as she chews on her nails in the cell. Classic withdrawal symptom. One thing Marcos saw a lot of with the Cartel was drug addicts.

Marcos and Lorna go to Caitlin with their suspicion that the prisoner is suffering from withdrawal. Caitlin confirms that the woman has all the symptoms. Marcos asks if they've ever seen a mutant on Kick. A mutant drug that temporarily boosts their powers, making them feel invincible. But it's incredibly addictive. And if that's the case, they might be able to treat her. Lorna thinks treating her will only allow the prisoner to get stronger and provide her with the opportunity to kill them while Marcos believes that treatment may lead to their questions getting answered. As they argue, Caitlin reminds them that them that they're fighting for a word where people can live together.

After Andy and Lauren restrain the prisoner against the cell long enough for Caitlin to inject with her the "sleep juice", they move her to a table and lock her down to it. Marcos, Lorna, Lauren and Andy watch as Caitlin injects the woman with medication to help with her withdrawals, though it won't matter given that she is dying from the massive amounts of drugs that Sentinel Services had given her. This is reason for concern as Marcos suspects that she won't tell them anything if she is already dying. Caitlin isn't so sure, however. She once treated a gang member with a fatal gunshot wound. As he was dying, he told the cops everything he'd done just to get it off his chest.

As she wakes up, Caitlin attempts to speak to her. They know she was arrested by the Sentinel Services, but they need to know what happened to her while she was in their custody. Chloe attempts to speak, but Caitlin determines that she can't speak and she has not the slightest clue whether it is mental or physical. Caitlin suggests that they use Esme, one of the new arrivals, who is a telepathic refugee, to read Chloe's mind.

Sentinel Services has her family, meaning she is more than willing to fight. Just as before, Esme eyes glow while reading Chloe's thoughts. She senses need and pain. A deeper dig reveals that Trask Industries, which is North of the Underground, had killed her husband and took her daughter. Unfortunately, Chloe dies on the table soon thereafter.

From what Esme was able to gather from Chloe Tan's mind, the mutants in Trask's lab are desperate. Esme describes being able to hear the screams, see the bodies, and feel the agony when they turned Chloe into a Hound. With Sage assembling a site map, Sonya wonders if Esme was able to gain any information on the lab's security while in Chloe's mind. Unfortunately, she wasn't. However, this matters little to Esme who is determined to break in and save her family. Marcos and Lorna are just as determined as Esme to infiltrate the lab, but going into the facility without a full understanding of the building would only result in their deaths, so they choose to hold off.

Lorna attempts to rip the door open with her powers though in doing so she is inadvertently using her powers outside of her dream, waking Marcos up from his sleep as she destroys the nightstand. Lorna then wakes up, but still under the impression that their baby is at Trask. Marcos calms Lorna, telling her that it was only a dream. However, a bad dream is all it seems to take to convince Lorna to infiltrate Trask. Lorna and Sonya return successful. After she and Marcos go through the memory she got from the guard, they regroup with the others to inform them that the lab is hardened against mutant attack. They have motion and infrared sensors connected to heavy-caliber guns that are mounted all over the building. Neither Lorna nor Clarice can get them past Trask's defenses as there are too many Lorna to handle and Clarice is unfamiliar with the building, meaning she could blink them into the middle of a concrete wall. Luckily, Sage managed to find one vulnerability. There is a power substation a few miles away. If they take it out, they can gain access to the lab before Trask's systems get back online. However, they don't have enough combat ready mutants to hit the station and the lab at the same time. So, they are checking with other stations to presumably see who would join them.

While it is admittedly a lot to ask, they feel as if they have no other choice as everyone else with combat powers will be assaulting the lab. Sage hacked the security cameras and the station only has a handful of guards. Clarice will portal everyone in, and from there, Sonya will guide them. They'd been through every option. Unfortunately, the plan with Andy and Lauren is the only one that can work. Having said that, both Andy and Lauren are willing to help in whatever way they can. The entire building is guarded with armed officials and high powered guns mounted to the rooftop. Thunderbird remarks that the mission would be a whole lot easier if they had Pulse to take out every automated gun at the facility. Of course they would then be subjected to hear tales of his awesomeness for months. Both Eclipse and Thunderbird are going to miss him, and Thunderbird continues to blame himself. But if they're off by a few seconds, they'll be slaughtered. And they don't even know where they're going once they're in there. But that's what Esme is for. First they free the prisoners, then they destroy the mainframe and all of Trask's research. Eclipse wonders how Esme knows the prisoners will help. She merely states that she's sure they will. Unfortunately, not long after, the alarms at Trask begin to sound. Eclipse suspects that they've been spotted, but Thunderbird hones in on his hearing and hears the guards say that the power station is under attack, meaning, Dreamer, Blink, and the Struckers have been discovered. The Underground plan their next move against Sentinel Services and Trask

In "eXploited", the Mutant Underground is under distress following the apprehension of Dreamer, Blink, Andy and Lauren by Sentinel Services. John grows tired of their senseless bickering and breaks the table in a fit of rage while demanding that they stop because there is no more "yours" or "ours". Andy, Lauren, Sonya and Clarice are all of their people. While Reed argues that going in weapons drawn will only get someone hurt, Lorna worries that the longer they wait, the greater the risk of their friends being turned into Hounds become. They're going to be dealing with a group of armed Sentinel Service agents on high alert along with Trask security. It could be a bloodbath, which Lorna is fully aware of, but she's not about to beg for mercy like the Struckers and bank on human decency. They're trying to save the people they love. Marcos knows how that feels. However, as Lorna points out, he actually came to get her while Reed and Caitlin only want Lauren and Andy out of Trask labs just so that they can sit in prison for the rest of their lives. While neither Marcos nor Lorna can accept that, Marcos has seen a lot of killing and knows where this roads goes as their current predicament isn't that much different from his days in the Cartel. He's lost more friends than he can count. He doesn't want that for them. However, Lorna refuses to accept living in fear.

Marcos and Lorna plan their attack

John gets word from Shatter that Sentinel Services is at Trask with a large transport vehicle and relays this to the others. They can't believe that the Struckers actually managed to pull it off. Unfortunately, the Underground doesn't have a lot of time to make their move. They're going to storm Sentinel Services on the road, free the prisoners and make their escape off the interstate. They're going to have a maximum of 1-2 minutes. The guards coming from the lab are going to be coming at them fast and they might have Hounds. Esme volunteers to go in to scout security, read one of the guards to see what she can find out.

Eclipse informs the team of Esme's betrayal

Eclipse, Polaris, Thunderbird and Esme convene with Shatter just outside Trask. He tells them that he saw 2 Sentinel Services SUVs, 2 Sedans and a transport vehicle. And they all rolled in pretty high. Thunderbird's foresight allows him to see that Sentinel Services just left the building with the friends. When Polaris asks if they were all there, Thunderbird replies that he isn't sure. All he knows is that there is a group of them. They're going to be at the gate soon. Eclipse and Esme go in now to see what they can get off the guard at the booth. Eclipse and Esme move along the fence quietly, slowly approaching so that Esme can get a read off the guard. Esme then tazes Eclipse, leaving him on the ground, throbbing in pain as she explains that she has her own plans. Marcos wakes up to the aftermath. He runs off to inform Polaris, Thunderbird and Shatter about Esme's betrayal and her identical triplet sisters, who are killing everyone.

Marcos at Dreamer's funeral

In "3 X 1", the Underground holds a service for Sonya. Lorna speaks on her behalf. Everything Dreamer did, she did for everyone at the station, up until the very end. She could've disguised herself as a human forever, but she chose to live with them, her true family. Marcos then says a few words. It's days like this that remind them that they're up against people that don't think of them as human. And they will point to their differences. But the simple fact is this: Mutants love like they do. Mutants die like they do. Mutants grieve like they do. Sonya will not be forgotten. And Marcos promises they will find justice for her. Lorna and Marcos then place flowers on Sonya's grave.

The Underground hears out the Frost Sisters' alliance proposal

Esme and her sisters Sophie and Phoebe arrive at the station. They've come peacefully as they only desire to talk about the Hound program, which is expanding, and they want the Underground's help in taking it down. However, Marcos and Reed are still upset that Esme used and lied to them. As for why they need the Underground's help despite their own powers being so great, Sentinel Services knows what they look like. So they can't take them on by themselves. They have information about Dr. Campbell's plans and resources to share. Meanwhile, the Underground has the muscle. While Caitlin and Marcos refuse to even consider an alliance of any kind, John and Lorna seems more willing though he does kick them out after hearing what they have to offer.

Marcos and Lorna argue over the alliance with the Frost Sisters

Marcos can't believe that Lorna is leaning towards an alliance with the Frost Sisters after they turned everyone against each other. While this may be true, Lorna thinks Marcos is still just upset about Esme tazing him. Furthermore, Lorna feels not one ounce of remorse for the Sentinel Services agents that died. After brief stomach pains, Lorna reveals that her bottom line is that the Frost Sisters got the job done. If it's a question of their survival, maybe that has t be all that matters.

Marcos follows Lorna out the room only to find the Struckers packing their belongings. Reed and Caitlin had reach out to the Fairburn station. He's surprised that they're leaving now despite all that has just happened. They are needed at the station, especially the help Caitlin has been giving with the school. But, they feel that it's time to move on, more so with Esme and her sisters coming back. Marcos doesn't want to align with them either, which is why the Underground needs to stick together, but Reed claims it's too late for that. The last time, Esme played them all against each other. They can't risk that she might do that again. Not to mention that she has already turned some of the mutants at the station against them because they talked to Agent Turner.

Marcos gives the Struckers supplies

The next day, as the Strucker prepare to leave the station, Marcos brings them out some supplies as there isn't much to the Fairbun station. It's basically a meeting point for people heading South. Marcos shakes Reed's hang and gives Caitlin a hug after telling them to stick to the back roads and follow the speed limit.

The next day, Lorna's power grows. She notices the green hue of her abilities have changed. She she focus in on the vault door and slams it closed. Marcos asks what that was about. Lorna explains that she could never move that much metal from such distance before. She thinks it's because of the baby. Lorna feels amazing. Marcos recalls the last time she felt amazing, she had a bipolar episode, but she insists the feeling isn't the same. She's changing, along with everything else. They then inform John of this discovery.

John, Lorna and Marcos discuss the alliance with the Frost Sisters

Marcos, Lorna and John need to come to an agreement pertaining to the alliance with the Frost. As far as Marcos is concerned, Esme and her sisters are not an option because he doesn't agree with their tactics. They know nothing about them, but Clarice interjects that they saved her, which is apparently enough for her to agree to the alliance. Marcos is worried as they've now been pulled into an all-out war with Sentinel Services. Congress could declare Martial law, not that Clarice seems to care since they didn't need Martial law when they killed her foster parents. Lorna agrees. Adding that there's no reason for them to continue fighting with one hand tied behind their backs while Sentinel Services is coming at them with full force. In short, they need all the allies they can get, including the Frost Sisters. But Marcos doesn't want to disregard their principals just because it's convenient. the X-Men chose them for a reason. They will take down the Hound program, but they'll do it their way. Sage interrupts to inform them that she had learned from the police scanners that something big is about to go down.

Blink portals the team into the Fairburn station

After learning from Sage that the Fairburn station is under attack, Eclipse, Polaris, Thunderbird, and Blink head down to save the Struckers. Thunderbird calls Reed to inform him that they are on their way. Reed tells them that they're hiding out on the south end of the building, but they can't get to an exit. It was just them and Wes as most of the refugees have already surrendered. Unfortunately, Andy is hurt and still unconscious. Caitlin fears that moving him will only make matters worse. Wes' mirage is hiding them, but he can't keep it up forever. Eclipse, Polaris, Thunderbird, and Blink arrive at the station soon thereafter. Thunderbird hears them prepping to surround the building, and so Clarice portals them in.

The Underground escaping the Fairburn station

Eclipse, Polaris, Thunderbird, and Blink make their way through the station while it is under constant fire by Hounds wearing a manacle that thanks to Dr. Campbell, allows them to combine their powers. Eclipse, Polaris, Thunderbird, and Blink find the Struckers and Wes on the south end and see them to safety though it is no easy task as the Hounds continuously strike the building with great power. Polaris and Eclipse are hit, but it is Polaris who goes flying several feet into the air. Luckily, Thunderbird is there to catch her. Eclipse, Polaris, Thunderbird, Blink, Lauren, Wes, Andy, Reed and Caitlin quietly move throughout the woods, hoping not to alert any nearby agents. Thunderbird's foresight reveals that their car has been discovered. Andy then jumps to his feet and leads the group out of the woods, claiming that "they" said it was safe. "They" turn out to be the Frost Sisters, who are waiting by the road with escape vehicles.

Marcos questions how the Frost Sisters even found them in Fairburn. They claim that they have sources. The Hounds that attacked them at Fairburn is what the Sisters tried to warn the Underground about. But it was only the start. It's going to get worse, which is why they need the Underground's help to take down Campbell and Trask.

John, Lorna, and Marcos grow suspicious of Clarice

In "eXtraction", the Mutant Underground and the Frost Sisters discuss how they plan to stop the Hound program. However, before starting, Marcos makes one thing clear, that their being there, doesn't make them friends. Esme, Sophie and Phoebe explain that they're dealing with a secret program that must be stopped as soon as possible as their sources have informed them that Dr. Campbell is working his political connection to take the program International. Their best chance to stop him will be at the Humanity Today Summit in Charlotte tomorrow, where major anti mutant politicians, business heads and Purifiers will be present. The Frost Sisters want to kidnap Campbell to stop the program. When Clarice opposes the idea, the Sisters claim that they know all about her criminal past and "old friends", something she had not shared with the Underground. This raises suspicion in Marcos, Lorna, and John.

Afterward, Lorna tries to convince Marcos to cooperate with the Frost Sisters. While she's not asking Marcos to change his mind about them, they have a job to do. In case Marcos is worried that the Sisters will come between them, Lorna assures him that this will never happen. She asks Marcos to play along for her if nothing else, and he agrees.

The team arrive at the safe house

Marcos, Lorna, John, Clarice, Esme, Sophie and Phoebe arrive at a very large and expensive looking safe house in Charlotte. Clarice notes that it looks "boujee", so the Sisters sarcastically offer to accommodate by bringing in mold and smashing holes in the floor. Esme then sees them inside, during which time she informs them that the safe house comes with a full security system, and they're set up for a variety of interrogation methods. Although, Esme should be able to extract any information they need. The X-Men started the Underground before they vanished, but didn't leave them with much. While the Hellfire Club's founders, the Brotherhood, left them with a lot more. In half an hour, their ticket to the summit will be driving down a road near the safe house, so they get ready.

TG-Caps-1x12-eXtraction-47-Thunderbird-Polaris-Eclipse-solar-light-photons

Thunderbird, Polaris and Eclipse stop Bennett

Eclipse is upset with the Frost Sisters' method into getting them into the summit, which as Polaris explains is done through their kidnapping of Franklin Bennett, a big fundraiser for anti-mutant causes. He attends the Humanity Today Summit every year. If they're with him, they get past the gate. He made a ton of money in pharmaceuticals. When he retired, he decided he wanted to contribute to society. His way of giving back was going after mutants. As the silver sedan approaches, Blink and Esme pull out into the road to block its path, thus forcing Bennett to a stop. Polaris throws several knives into the man's car, flattening his tires. Thunderbird then rips his door off and Eclipse tells him to get out.

Marcos and John get dressed as security detail

The team brings Bennett back to the safe house for interrogation. The Frost Sisters handcuff him to a chair and force him to make a phone call to the Humanity Today Summit. Meanwhile, John and Marcos get dressed in security uniform. While John knows that Marcos isn't a fan of the Frost Sisters, he has to be in if someone's going to offer a lot of help to take down the people that killed Pulse and Sonya. Marcos is only doing this for John and Lorna, but he honestly doesn't like it. John explains that when he was in Afghanistan, in the Marines, he had to work with a lot of people he didn't like, but they have to fight the fight that's in front of them. John and Marcos then enter the den to find the Frost Sisters torturing Bennett, though Clarice brings an end to it.

Not long after, the team makes it past the front gate of the summit with Bennett as planned. Eclipse, Polaris, and Esme discuss the plan. The second the speech is over, Polaris will knock out the frequencies for phones and walkies. Eclipse and the others are going to need to hurry because once communication goes down, the area is going to be crawling with security. Blink can get them past the guards, onto the balcony, and Thunderbird will have to take them to the elevator from there. Blink then portals Eclipse, Thunderbird and herself into the Summit.

TG-Caps-1x12-eXtraction-93-Thunderbird-Blink-Eclipse

Thunderbird, Blink and Eclipse infiltrate the summit

Eclipse, Thunderbird, and Blink proceed further into the building. Thunderbird's foresight allows him to track Campbell throughout the building. He's coming up with a few guards in the elevator. And there are 3 more armed guards in the suit down the hall. Eclipse and Thunderbird wait on the opposite side of the elevator for Dr. Campbell to exit. When he does, Eclipse blinds them with a bright ray of light. Unfortunately, he then is attacked by Aide while Thunderbird is preoccupied with stopping the armed guards. Once he finishes with the guards, Thunderbird takes out Aide as well. However, before they can get to Campbell, a group of children exit the elevator. So, Campbell pick up a gun and uses the children as leverage/human shields for his escape. Their troubles don't end there. The aforementioned 3 armed guards exit the suit and begin firing. Eclipse makes it to cover while Thunderbird is hit several time while protecting Blink from the gunfire. Luckily, he is bullet proof.

Polaris, Blink, Thunderbird, Eclipse and Esme flee the summit

In "X-roads", Eclipse, Thunderbird, and Blink portal back to the drop off location after escaping the armed guards. Esme is irate that they didn't return with Dr. Campbell, but as Eclipse explains, it wasn't their fault as Campbell shielded himself with a bunch of kids. Not that Esme cares as a lot of people will die if the Hound program continues. So she refuses to leave without him. But with security moving in, they have no choice but to flee the scene. Which leads to a car chase as law enforcement is right behind them, though not for long. Polaris yanks down a utility pole to obstruct law enforcement's path, allowing the team to get away.

Upon returning to the safe house, Esme questions how they could let Campbell escape. Marcos asks what more could they have done other than attack a bunch of kids, which he, John and Clarice are against. Because they let Campbell getaway, he is now on his way to D.C. with the Senator, and after the attack at the Summit, they just gave them even more reason to expand the Hound program. What they need to figure out now is where Campbell is so they can finish what they started.

Marcos wants to bail on the plan

The Frost Sisters are checking all the airports in the area, but Campbell's going to be ready for them. They're looking at a full-on assault. Marcos wonders if they should take this opportunity to get out while they can and hunt Campbell under their own terms, but Lorna can't help but wonder if there may never be another chance like the one they have. She'd never seen anything like the conference before. All those people focused on hating them. Marcos explains that attacking people won't make things better but Lorna wants to do something as she is done hiding. Marcos admits that he's worried about Lorna. Between the way she tore down the telephone pole and what little sleep she's been getting, he asks if she's having another manic episode. She insists that she isn't. This isn't about Lorna's illness. It's about their's. The people all over the country. Lorna thought that if she and Marcos had a child that it would have it easier than they did. That they would build a better world where their kid wouldn't have to hide. Marcos believes that they're doing just that, but they have to have faith. Lorna's always loved that Marcos had faith, but she doesn't seem to share it.

Marcos threatens to blind Esme

Marcos later comes downstairs in search of Lorna. He tells John and Clarice that he can't find her. John tries to track her, but she's left the safe house with Sophie and Phoebe. John, Marcos and Clarice confront Esme, who reveals that Lorna and her sisters are doing what the rest of them couldn't. Campbell and Montez filed a flight plan. They fly out of Morrison Air Center in 20 minutes. The most important thing is to make sure he doesn't get to D.C. They realize that this has now gone from a kidnapping to an assassination. While John has as much of a reason to hate Campbell as anyone, assassinating him goes against everything they stand for. If they start killing, it's going to make life worse for mutants everywhere. Esme argues that life is already worse for mutants everywhere. Marcos loses his patients and demands that Esme shut up. They're going to get Lorna, and if he even sees Esme's eyes turn blue, he'll blind her permanently.

While in route to stop the assassination, Marcos, John, and Clarice hope to reach the airport before Lorna does something she regrets. Marcos blames himself for not knowing and stopping her. Ever since they broke her out of that convoy she's been different. John knows that she's had issues in the past, but Clarice and Marcos assure him that it's not a bipolar episode. Lorna knows exactly what she's doing.

Eclipse, Thunderbird, and Blink watch as Polaris destroys the plane

Eclipse, Thunderbird, and Blink arrive on scene at the airport to find Polaris waiting to make her move against Campbell and Montez. She blocks their path with barbed wire, telling them to stay back. Eclipse tries to reason with her, reminding her of 7/15 and all the innocent lives that were lost. Not everyone on the plane is trying to hurt them. If she takes the plane down, they die. But if Polaris doesn't take it down the innocent people on their side will die. Thunderbird tells her that she's not a killer and this isn't why the X-Men chose them. Polaris claims they made a mistake in picking her. Like Eclipse, Polaris cares about her family and wants to keep them safe. She's tired of hiding and they have to take a stand. Not like this. This changes everything, Eclipse counters as their kid will have to live in this world. To that, Polaris replies "It's time to make a new world". As the plane carrying Senator Montez and Dr. Campbell takes flight, Polaris tears it apart in the sky, causing the plane to crash and presumably killing everyone on board. The blast from the impact knocks Eclipse, Thunderbird and Blink to the ground. By the time they get up, Polaris is gone.

Sage goes onto tell them that the station is completely gone, as are the Hounds, who Andy and Lauren killed when destroying the station. Marcos and John announce that they need to start thinking about next steps. With Headquarters gone, a lot of people have nowhere to go. It's time to rebuild. It's not just about the building, but more so the network and the people in it. Although, Sage, Shatter and Fade doubt that it's even possible to start from nothing. Furthermore, Sage points out that since the Struckers arrived, half their stations have been destroyed, but Caitlin counters that the Hound program was coming one way or another. Marcos explains that the X-Men did this knowing it would take struggle and sacrifice. Lorna interrupts with Esme, telling them that there's nothing noble about struggle and that the Mutant Underground is dying. But that world that they've always talked about where they don't have to hide and live in fear, she wants to build that for them. Lorna and Esme intend to rebuild the Hellfire Club, but they need people. The people they've come for know who they are, which includes Fade, Bulk, Sage, and Andy.

Mutant Underground meeting

The next day, Marcos, John, Clarice, Lauren, Reed and Caitlin are held up at the Potomac Salvage junkyard. Reed speaks to the group, as he's very much aware that losing Liberty Park Apartments is difficult to stomach. But it is because of what they did that ten mutants and their families get to start new lives today. So he would like to try and focus on that instead. Furthermore, Reed has organized transportation for the people they took in and got them documents. Shatter's crew in Baltimore are going to get most of them someplace safe. However, Lauren is concerned for Cristina, who doesn't wish to leave without her sister Jazmine. While the trail is a day old, John and Clarice will continue their efforts to find Jazmine, and until then, Cristina will stay with them. Lastly, Marcos had been asking around, and in doing so, got in contact with a group of mutant hackers who can get into computer systems. Marcos spoke to the man in charge, Wire, personally. John and Reed are upset with Marcos' effort to reach out as the hackers are known criminals, however, Caitlin, as desperate as she is, doesn't believe they have too many other options. John reminds everyone that the only thing keeping them safe is that the government thinks they died in Atlanta. So they have to be careful. However, given that his child is about to be born, Marcos is done being careful.

Caitlin doesn't care what drug he's on, as long as he knows something. When they get inside, Marcos wants to do all the talking. If things go side ways, he'll handle it. Caitlin reminds Marcos of her training with John at the scrap yard, but Marcos isn't convinced it will be enough, much to Caitlin's dissatisfaction. Marcos and Caitlin then arrive at Wire's place. He is upset that Marcos broke the rules by bringing Caitlin, but he assures Wire that Caitlin is just a friend who is interested in the same thing as he is, which is a bad thing as far as Wire is concerned. Nevertheless, Wire did some digging, as promised. He discovered that the Hellfire Club is into some heavy stuff, which Marcos failed to mentioned during their arrangement, causing Wire to demand more money, as he pulls a gun out on Caitlin and Marcos.

When presented with the opportunity, Caitlin rushes Wire, quickly disarming him, but she got grazed by a bullet in the process. As she holds him at gunpoint, Marcos keeps his goons at bay, lighting up his hands as a means of intimidation. Caitlin demands that he sends his goons away and give them what they came for, or else she'll kill him. Wire agrees to her terms and calls off his people. Wire explains that the Hellfire Club spun off something called the Inner Circle. He suspects there was a management change. The Inner Circle is well hidden and very wealthy. They have multiple accounts with millions in each. However, Wire has no idea where they are. Caitlin explains that they don't care about the money. They want to find the people. However, Wire tells them that this is the opposite of what they want because one thing is very, very clear. If you mess with the Inner Circle, you disappear.

Caitlin and Marcos return

Marcos and Caitlin return to the apartment and rush to the bathroom to tend to her wound. They reveal to John, Clarice and Lauren that they arranged a meeting with Wire, which went south. While they still don't know where Andy and Lorna are, it is a step in the right direction.

Later that night, Marcos looks through the files given to him by Wire, in hope of finding something that'll help him locate Lorna. As he does so, the lights begin to surge throughout the entire city. So, he alerts the others, telling them to come to the roof. Marcos, Caitlin, Reed and Lauren make it to the roof, where they see the surging of lights throughout the entire city. Marcos is certain that this is Lorna's doing. Reed argues that they don't know this for sure, but Marcos knows what her powers look and feel like. Given the circumstances, Caitlin concludes that the disruption in the magnetic fields is due to Lorna's contractions, meaning she's in labor.

However, Marcos is angered with how slow they're going, looking to Clarice to portal them, but as she explains, they don't know where they're going and they're miles from it. Unfortunately, before they can track the surge to its source, the entire grid shuts down, preventing John from tracking it any further. Marcos questions what this means, if Lorna or the baby are dead. However, no one has the answers for him. In an emotional state, Marcos drops down to his knees in agony as his hands glow.

He even bought a bottle of Champagne to celebrate when he found out that he and Lorna were having a baby. He ordered the same kind on their first day. It cost more than the dinner itself and Lorna laughed at him for spending such an outrageous amount. John encourages Marcos to hang on to hope, but that is precisely what's been killing Marcos. He doesn't even know if Lorna and the baby are alive, though John is sure of it despite the fact that all they have in their favor is a load of bank statements from four different continents. The Inner Circle is up to something, and Marcos fears that Lorna and their child will get caught in the crossfire. However, John knows of someone who might be able to help.

The following day, Marcos, John and Caitlin arrived in Philadelphia to meet with Evangeline Whedon, a mutant attorney who may have insight on the Inner Circle. They visit Evangeline at her firm, though she isn't pleased to see them as their arrival could result in Sentinel Services connecting her firm to the Mutant Underground. She can't have them there, especially since they're fugitives who are supposed to be dead. Marcos informs her that they're fighting every day while she's hiding. Caitlin pleads with her to help in anyway, but as Evangeline explains, she's simply a mutant's rights lawyer. John knows some of her past cases involved tracing bank records so he wants her help in tracking down the Inner Circle through their records. Evangeline is very much aware of the Inner Circle. When she questions how they managed to gain a USB's worth of information on the group, Marcos replies that a friend acquired it for them, leaving her to wonder if that friend is still alive.

Evangeline can't help John, Caitlin and Marcos

Evangeline speaks to an associate of hers, who managed to trace some of the Inner Circle's transactions. There are weapons purchases, facilities, assets diversified and hidden in every way imaginable. Evangeline explains that Reeva Payge is preparing for war, someone who Marcos, John and Caitlin are all unfamiliar with. She's one of the most powerful mutants still standing after 7/15. John wants Evangeline's help to stop her, but Evangeline explains that the Inner Circle's resources are too great, not to mention that they have Polaris and a descendant of the Von Struckers. The Underground doesn't have the power to go to war with the Inner Circle. Evangeline refuses given his failure in Atlanta, which by the way, led to half of the Underground being taken apart by Sentinel Services. She refuses to allow John to destroy the rest of what they built, and then kicks the three of them out her office.

Marcos and Caitlin attempt to comfort John by explaining that the station in Atlanta going down was not his fault. They were all there, but as far as John is concerned, it was his responsibility. Marcos would beg to differ however, believing that it was all of their duties. John then tells them to go on ahead and that he'll meet them at the car as he rushes back to Evangeline's office.

After returning to D.C., Marcos heads up to the rooftop, where he finds Caitlin. He approaches with the bottle of Champagne that he had bought after finding out Lorna was pregnant. He had hopped to share it with her once the baby was born, but that is no longer an option. So, he pops the bottle open and shares a drink with Caitlin instead. Marcos can't stop thinking about what Evangeline said, about an approaching war. Marcos fears what will happen if he doesn't find Lorna and the baby in time. However, Caitlin forbids him from giving into despair. She then heads back downstairs, leaving Marcos alone on the rooftop.

He's come to see his father, Sebastian, who is gravely ill and on his deathbed, though, his father isn't the slightest bit happy to see him, asking that he be left alone, but instead, Marcos grabs a seat. He made some calls to get his father into a cancer center in Bogota, where he can be treated by a specialist. Still, his father wants nothing to do with him, even referring to Marcos as a demon and claiming that this is Marcos' attempt to by his love with blood money. Still upset over past grievances, Marcos questions the man his father is. The same man that put him out and abandoned him. When Marcos' abilities manifested, Sebastian gave him a choice to either hide his powers or leave; it's the same choice Marcos' now deceased mother was forced to make.

Marcos wakes up with a hangover from the night before and joins Clarice and John in the kitchen. Marcos wishes to join them as they head down town into the tunnels to find the mutant separatist Erg. John tells him to sit this one out, especially after the "light show" he put on for Lorna the night before, which is all over the news. Clarice jokingly remarks that the next time he drunk dials his ex, to leave the eastern seaboard out of it.

Marcos is surrounded by the Frost Sisters

Marcos sits in a diner, holding the rattle he welded for his child when he begins to hear whispers of his name being said repeatedly. He then receives brief flashes of a black SUV just outside the diner. The whispers continue as Marcos heads out the back of the diner. Just as the image that flashed in his head, Marcos sees the black truck. He slowly approaches, ready for trouble should it arise. As Marcos reaches the truck, the Frost Sisters approach him from behind. Marcos threatens to take them out, though as Esme, Sophie and Phoebe explain, they didn't come for a fight. Quite the opposite in fact. They need his help. Marcos immediately lowers his guard as they reveals the baby is in trouble.

Marcos is being taken to his child

After retrieving Marcos, Esme, Sophie and Phoebe drive back to headquarters. While in route, they hand Marcos a black bag to cover his face, for security purposes. Marcos wants to know what's wrong with his child, but the Frost don't answer, only replying that he'll find out when he gets there. In reading Marcos' mind, they discover that he blames himself for his family falling apart. If he wishes to redeem himself as a father, they tell him to do as he's told.

Reeva, Andy, Esme and Bulk surround Marcos

Marcos is taken to the Inner Circle's lair. They sit him down and remove the hood from over his head. When they do, Marcos finds himself face-to-face with Reeva Payge, and surrounded by Esme, Sophie, Phoebe, Andy and Bulk. Reeva reveals that his child has been diagnosed with a severe case of jaundice. Normally, this is easily treatable, but this case has been stubborn. Reeva reminds him that he is in fact a guest, though Marcos doesn't wish to hear her out. Nevertheless, Reeva continues, also telling Marcos that when he sees Lorna, their own discussion is to be about the child. Marcos can't believe what he's hearing, looking to Andy for confirmation. However, Andy has chosen his side. He tells Marcos to just be grateful that he's there. Lastly, Reeva tells him to help the baby and leave.

Marcos heals Dawn

Marcos enters the room and Lorna lets out a sigh of relief. When Marcos tries to explain that they've been looking for her, Lorna asks him to stop making it harder than it has to be. He's only there for the child, who Lorna named Dawn, much to his surprise. As Marcos points out, Dawn translate to Aurora in Spanish, which they had previously agreed to name their child should it be a girl. Marcos holds Dawn for the very first time. He is overwhelmed with emotion. Lorna smiles, while also maintaining her distance and keeping her composure. While the doctor had trouble figuring out the right frequency for the light therapy, Marcos seems to know precisely what he has to do, curing Dawn almost immediately.

Marcos pleads with Lorna to come back with him

Marcos speaks to Dawn in his native language of Spanish. He tells her that he will always be her father and will always be there for her. Unfortunately for Marcos, his time is up with Dawn as she is doing better and they no longer have a use for him. Lorna tries not to notice the pain Marcos is enduring, having to give up Dawn, but she does thank him. Marcos then give Lorna the rattle that he made for Dawn. When Lorna left in Nashville, Marcos didn't want to see anyone get hurt, so he let her leave, but he now knows that was a mistake. He tries to convince Lorna to come with him. While they still love each other, Lorna states that their daughter needs more than love. The Inner Circle is building something bigger, something for Dawn. In that case, Marcos wishes to stay, but both he and Lorna know that would never work. To Marcos, that doesn't matter because real men don't abandon their family. Lorna assure Marcos that he's not his father, but their discussion is cut off there as Esme, Sophie and Phoebe force him to leave.

Marcos attacks Reeva

The Frost Sisters proceed to escort Marcos out. Handing him the black hood to put over his head in order to ensure that their location remain secret. As Marcos prepares to put the hood on, he begins to have flashes of his time spent with Lorna. It seems to be causing him some kind of physical strain, as he fights the Frosts control. Esme, Sophie and Phoebe increase their reach on Marcos, but he continues to resist, telling Lorna that they're lying to her and that they're in her head. Marcos then breaks their control, knocking Phoebe and Sophie to the floor before burning Esme on her upper right arm. As he progresses towards Reeva and attempts to burn her, she lets out one of her powerful screams, which not only blocks Marcos' attack, but turns his own abilities on him. As Marcos falls to the ground, Reeva orders Andy to escort him out.

John catches Marcos as he falls in through the door of the apartment. Marcos tells them that they came for him and took him to the baby. Against John's wishes, Marcos doesn't want to rest, he wants to hit the Inner Circle back.

Personality[]

Although he can be somewhat short-tempered, impatient, and distrusting of strangers, Eclipse is fiercely loyal to his friends and those he cares about, willing to do almost anything to ensure their safety. He deeply regrets the things he did in his youth to survive and now seeks to help mutants escape persecution.

At first, he is extremely distrusting of the Strucker family, especially since Reed was tasked with prosecuting Lorna. However, his anger towards Reed dissipates when he learns Lorna is pregnant and the two of them begin working together in order to save both of their families. He eventually grows close to the Struckers, developing a relationship with each of them. By the end of the first season, Marcos is shown to view them as a surrogate family.

Physical Appearance[]

Eclipse has short-cut black hair, brown eyes, and tan skin. He also has a fondness for flannel shirts.

Abilities and Skills[]

  • Absorption and Manipulation of Photons: Eclipse can absorb and manipulate photons of light, heat and energy but not much is known about the extent of his abilities. His cells have the ability to absorb solar energy and convert it for use as a physical strength. He also demonstrated using his ability to drain all light out of an area, seemingly encasing him in a large shadow, creating a blind spot, though this required a great deal of energy and concentration in order to successfully pull it off for several minutes.
    • Light Beam Projection: He can manipulate photons to project powerful rays of light and energy beams from his hands which are hot enough to cut through cinder blocks. His body is a literal battery of light and heat. When severally injured, Eclipse's wound emits light that burns to the touch, proven when he was shot by an Atlanta officer, and later when the bandage was removed.
    • Limitations: According to Eclipse, his powers can be weakened or even temporarily disabled while in places with little to no light, such as the underground sewers where the Morlocks live. As a result, his body truly works as though it's powered by a light-energy battery-- once he has used up his reserves, he will require a "charge" from another light source (such as sunlight, fluorescent bulbs, the light generated by other mutants like Glow, etc) in order to continue utilizing his powers.

Season 2[]

Trivia[]

  • Eclipse is bilingual, fluently speaking both his native Spanish and English.
  • Although Eclipse is an original character created for the show [2], he shares a codename with an incarnation of Sunspot in the Age of X timeline. Much like Eclipse, Sunspot has solar-based powers.
  • Eclipse shares some similarities to Havok in the comics, namely his ability to project energy from his hands and his romantic relationship with Polaris.
