Season 2

Season 2 of FOX's American Action / Adventure television series The Gifted, was renewed on January 4, 2018.^[2] The series started airing on September 25, 2018.^[3]

This season deals with the aftermath of the season 1 finale, where a group of the Mutant Underground joined the Hellfire Club. It also dived more into the Purifiers^[4] while introducing another group of mutants known as the Morlocks.

Season 2 consist of a 6 month time jump. The season pick up with Polaris about to give birth, Entertainment Weekly reports.^[5]

Official Synopsis[]

The 20th Century Fox Television/Marvel series picks up after the explosion of the Atlanta Station. The Mutant Underground search for their friends and family who left with The Inner Circle. Having tracked them outside of Washington, D.C., they must contend with new groups with extreme ideologies, both human and mutant alike, to stave off a brewing conflict.^[6]

Then, fast-forward six months, when the Mutant Underground saves a girl, but not her family, from a Sentinel raid. Against the group's wishes, Eclipse and Caitlin meet with a criminal hacker to get info on the Inner Circle. Meanwhile, Polaris prepares for the birth of her baby, her contractions magnetizing anything metal and wreaking havoc. She also makes Andy promise to save the baby, no matter what.

Meanwhile, Reed must keep a huge secret from the group and Jace picks up the mutants' trail again.

When he won’t help, Caitlin convinces him by using a drug to forcibly send Graph into withdrawal. He discovers that the Inner Circle is on the way to raid a mutant detention facility, so the group moves to intercept. Meanwhile, Jace is contacted by a member of the Purifiers.

Then, Thunderbird finally confronts Blink about her dealings with Erg, after weeks of tension over their meeting.

Meanwhile, Polaris reflects on her troubled relationship with her father and takes steps to protect Dawn from the Inner Circle.

Reed struggles to manage his powers and the family realizes that without enough of the serum, it's only a matter of time before he completely loses control. Frustrated and egged on by Benedict Ryan, Jace and the Purifiers are on the attack, but for Jace, things aren't as black and white as they once were.

The writers room opened on April 25, 2018^[8]
On May 14, during FOX upfronts, it was announced that The Gifted would be airing in a new time slot, on Tuesdays at 8/7c.^[9]
Filming began on May 30, 2018 and end in November 2018.^[10]
Some of the cast and crew attended 2018's San Diego Comic-Con panel. The panel took place at 2:30-3:15 pm on Saturday in Ballroom 20 at the convention. Panelists will include Matt Nix, Jeph Loeb, Stephen Moyer, Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, Natalie Alyn Lind and Skyler Samuels.^[6]
